:: Do you see the signs? ::

Do you believe in signs?

When you get a sign, that you can't ignore, or something super auspicious happens, do you actually acknowledge it, or do you let it just slide?
I clearly remember when I decided that that kind of thinking wasn't going to be me anymore, and that I needed to conform like everyone else in order to take care of myself and my family. I lost faith in the person I was because that person was way too "impulsive", and "not very responsible" and it certainly didn't seem to win me any brownie points anywhere to be sure.

Hindsight is always a perfect 20/20 of course, and I can clearly see the last year and the things that I overlooked, but, I think that it's just my way. I do that. I cling onto what was even when change is clearly screaming at me "just look"! you fickle little drama queen! Excuses. I have a million of them.

I want to be the girl that takes that leap of faith, takes chances and rides on the seat of her pants. I want to have the blind faith in myself that I remember having decades ago; proving to myself that I didn't have to conform, that I could be me and still take care of myself. {Ha}

Slowly, now that I've accepted where I am in life {grin}, and I am figuring everything out finally, {snort}, I see her. I can see her! I see her squished behind the hundreds of roles and acts that I've assumed just to earn a living and stay married and be like everyone else. it feels good. I found her. There she is.

:: Everyday is new ::

I love that each day is a new one full of choices and opportunities. Each day is what we make of it, plain and simple.

I am not as strong as you think I am. I am stronger.
I trust no one, until I do.
I find the island so inspiring!
I come from a place of great loneliness and hurt.
I believe that I am much too cynical. About everything.
I see that this is really just an excuse, which I'm very good at making. Also avoidance. I'm quite skilled there too.
I wonder about too many things that I will never know the answer to.
I found that the experiences of my past have been character building in ways I never have imagined.
I can call in my big girl pants anytime I want to so that I can get the hell over it.

: The Easiest dinner EVER :

The Easiest dinner EVER

Pulled Pork on a bun. Any bun.

It simply does not get any easier than this one... a super recipe for those really hot days when you don't want to turn on the oven. It's also great for company-pretty impressive without a whole lotta work! I doubled this recipe for 10 people-served it with baked beans and macaroni salad. And, I believe a cherry pretzel dessert.

1 pork loin
1 can of root beer
BBQ Sauce

Put meat in crock-pot. Cover with Root Beer. Cook on low for 7 hours. Drain remaining liquids and pull the pork with a fork. Add BBQ sauce. Allow to remain on low in the crock-pot while serving. Coleslaw can be served on the side of course, and below is the best recipe for that... So easy, and so yummy!!! Enjoy!

:: A small getaway ::

 I am having the best time!
Snuck away just for a
couple of days to Chicago.
It's a very easy get-away.
And, I accomplished a few things
on my summer"Bucket List" as well!

Lake Michigan is beautiful!
The water just sparkles
against the hot, blistering sun.
It has been over 100 degrees here!

Today, I am spending the day
laying on the beach, and swimming.
I have a good book, plenty to drink,
and excellent company.

I really needed this. How about you?

Any chance of a quick get-away?

:: As simple as a picture ::

Why can't life be as simple as this.
A beautiful second in a never ending world
Awash with memories and bathed in remembrances
Like the trees standing in the mist

:: Sunsets and salads ::

I’ve been a little obsessed with sunsets lately. I find myself completely mesmerized by them...
fascinated at the way they cast the most beautiful rose colored light on the day. It’s almost as if
even the sun simply must, at some point, agree that it's now time to make the best of what has
transpired this day and turn in…sure to return and do it all again tomorrow!

I am making a delicious salad for lunch you might like to try yourself. It's quite delicious and,
I like to make lots of it to keep on hand... great for hot days! Enjoy!

Rice Salad

Salad ingredients:

3 cups cooked brown rice, cooled
1 cup artichoke hearts, chopped
10 cherry tomatoes, chopped
1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
{I like jarred roasted red peppers too}
1/2 cup Kalamata olives, chopped
1/2 cup frozen or garden peas
1/2 cup basil, chopped
1/2 cup parsley,chopped
1/2 cup roasted and chopped almonds

Dressing ingredients:

1/4 cup grape seed oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 minced garlic clove
lemon juice from 1 lemon
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbs honey
salt & pepper

Mix together all the salad ingredients in a big bowl. I like putting all the dressing
ingredients in a Mason Jar and then giving it a good shake with the lid on.
Once the dressing is mixed up add it to the salad & enjoy.

:: Loving my Sunday ::

I love Sunday's...it's simply THE day

That is, by resting all day long!
And this particular Sunday wow! was it much needed.

Enjoy whats left of your weekend! xo

:: On losing your memories ::

Imagine you will completely lose your memory in five minutes. Then, set an alarm for five minutes close your eyes and think, capture the things you most want to remember - and write them down.

Did any special memories come to the forefront of your thoughts? Me too. And so that is what I am concentrating on. What made me the happiest. And doing whatever I can to capture those things in my daily life...

Vacations with my family, The love, The laughter, Sunrises, and sunsets from everywhere, Moonlit nights, Swimming in the ocean, My creative journey, Snuggling with my dog, The sights and smells of everyday, Hot bubble baths, Pampering spa days {Just us girls} Bicycle rides, and
Precious moments captured through the lens of my camera.
